I've read the official study guide for the CCIE Route/Switch which was also authored in part by Narbik Kocharians. I've also purchased and worked through entirely this text as well.A couple important notes about this book. First, this is not a theory book. This is a Lab Workbook. This book is purchased with the expectation you will program Cisco routers and switches for hours upon hours. This text does cover theory in detail to make sure you truly understand the fundamentals of how the primary routing technologies work, but it does this through practical application of routing protocols and other technologies.This book also assumes you are already solidly at or above the CCNP level. I don't think this text would be that beneficial for someone who doesn't already have a strong understanding of how RIPv2, OSPFv2, OSPFv3, EIGRP, EIGRPv6, and BGPv4 operate.I would highly recommend this text for anyone seriously studying for the CCIE Route/Switch and willing to invest the time it'll take to work through these labs. As a side note, I would also then recommend Narbik's Micronics bootcamp which gives you access to several thousand more pages of labs and detailed lectures and information on routing and switching.
Got this book a few days ago. I already have my CCNP and been working in the networking field for many years. So I have decided to take the jump and get my CCIE and take my networking skills to the next level. Well this is a great book. and Narbik Kocharians is the man. He is the top guy to learn from. This book fills the gaps that a CCNP is missing and plus it keeps you sharp. the book is all labs and troubleshooting. Thinking about getting your CCIE this is one of the books you should get.
The book full fill its objective of bridging the gap from CCNP to CCIE. The author does not spend much time with complex explanation. At same time he explains the theory in a narrative way with examples using CLI configuration to prove the theory. If you want to refresh your CCNP skills or study for CCIE it is a very good book to use. If you support a network for R&S then you should have it handy.

Great book
I'm not sure I agree with the other reviewer at 5 stars. Like he mentioned it's all labs and the approach is right, but it's strangely written, or seemingly rushed in the text and I've found configuration typos that are intended to guide you (DMVPN labs 5x and so on). Obviously if you're at this skill level you can pick up on these typos, but it makes stop, double check and ultimately distrust the content and over-question the material burdening your study. So I'd say it's a rushed product, but if you're CCIE-bound you'll buy any book on the subject. So happy reading.
The format of this book is quite dated. The CCIE is on given virtualized equipment, most people lab on virtualized equipment, but this book is designed for legacy physical equipment. Keep in mind that you will likely need to translate the labs in this book to a virtualized setup, a very time consuming process in an already time consuming test to study for.
First the positive, this book is great resource for anyone who is studying for the CCIE or who just wants to become a better network engineer in general. The labs are very informative and Narbik has a wonderful gift for revealing how network protocols are working behind the scenes. I am able to run all the labs based on the underlay topology he recommends in the book and also in his workbooks. Even in light of my criticisms I believe this book is great resource to own and I can honestly it has helped me tremendously.The one criticism I do have however are the number of mistakes I have seen throughout the book. If you pay $60.00+ for this book this should not be the case. There needs to be a better job of proof reading the text. Granted these mistakes have provided some tshooting sessions, but I dont think that was the intention. This is the reason I can only give a 3-star rating.I will say once again, even with this criticism I would still recommend this book to people who want to study for the CCIE or just become better engineers.
