This was a great book for any classroom teacher. I used it for a book study group at school. We would read and discuss many of the chapters and focus on how we would handle similar situations. The writer has many real life situations that applies to all classrooms but were especially helpful for an inner city school population. I gave it to the new teacher who took my place when I retired last year. Very helpful in learning to deal with problem situations even for a teacher with many years in the classroom.
We used this class for our Classroom Management textbook in our education program - at first I thought this would be another one of those textbooks. Instead, I found that this book has given me more ideas about teaching strategies than I could have ever learned from my teachers. Ms. Ridnouer helped me as a new teacher learn useful strategies in order to engage and reach my students. Thanks!

I needed this book for my classroom management class, and so far it's the only book that I had to get this semester that I actually enjoy reading. The author has a great conversational tone, and if I had the time I would just keep on reading it until I was done with it. On a scale of 1-10 for enjoyment, I would definitely say it's a 10, despite the odd, too-perfect dialogue and the context for guidelines that I can't quite figure out.
I have read countless books and materials that suggest ideas to support educators. This is THE BEST book! It nails it on the head! Every teacher from the first year to the last should be required to read it!
